Trinity Forest Golf Club

Trinity Forest Golf Club

In my current role at Trinity Forest Golf Club, I assist in the daily management and long-term agronomic planning of a championship-caliber golf course known for firm-and-fast playing conditions. My responsibilities include turf health management, irrigation oversight, fertilizer and chemical applications, and training of new employees.
The course’s unique construction atop a former landfill with a clay cap requires a unique approach to moisture management and organic matter control, with frequent, light topdressing playing a key role in maintaining firmness and surface consistency. This role allowed me to balance daily maintenance responsibilities with more complex construction and planning initiatives. In addition to field operations, I collaborated with the superintendent and director on financial planning, including helping develop the 2026 pesticide budget as well as contributing to both capital and operating budget planning. These experiences strengthened my understanding of cost management, long-term resource allocation, and the relationship between agronomic decisions and financial sustainability.

Top dressing

Topdressing is essential for maintaining smooth, firm, and consistent playing surfaces, and it plays a critical role at my current course, Trinity Forest Golf Club. Built on a former landfill, the course has a clay cap separating the turf profile from the landfill below, making regular topdressing across all playable areas especially important. Frequent, light applications help dilute organic matter, protect turf crowns, and encourage upright turf growth. Over time, this practice improves surface firmness and ball roll while enhancing water infiltration and root development, resulting in healthier, more resilient turf and improved long-term performance.

Drainage and Irrigation Repair

Installing new or upgraded drainage is critical to managing excess water and protecting turf health. Proper drainage prevents saturated soils, reduces stress on turfgrass, and allows playing surfaces to recover more quickly after heavy rainfall or irrigation. Effective drainage systems improve surface consistency, extend playable conditions, and support long-term sustainability of the golf course.
